NATIONAL TREASURED CLASSICS ON DISPLAY

Two Presidential Austin Princess Vanden Plas will be on display on the 20th of May 2018 during the Valletta Concours D'Elegance. These historic vehicles have been used by various personalities during their visits to Malta, including Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family amongst others. These two national treasures will be displayed in the Grand Masters Palace courtyard surrounded by the exhibited works of art by various renowned artists. Another case where Art meets Art! In the 1950s the British Government donated four Princess Vanden Plas to Malta, to be used by the then British Governors and important personalities visiting Malta. TOGETHER AGAIN AFTER 45 YEARS

In 1964 the British Government donated an Austin Princess to the Office of the Prime Minister of Malta. Dr. George Borg Olivier, Prime Minister, used this car during the Independence Ceremony, and it was used until change of Government in 1971. The newly elected Prime Minister Dom Mintoff also used this Rolls Royce engined Vandem Plas as his official car until it was garaged after developing engine failure. A similar vehicle was bought from England and continued to be used by Mr Dom Mintoff until the end of his term in office.
